Varosha district is formed in the town of Gorna Djumaia, as it was called back then Blagoevgrad. A point of interest for every tourist is the church “Blessed Virgin”.
The name Varosha is with a proto-Bulgarian origin and it means Old town. “Varosha” was the quarter of the Christians in the city during the end of the XVI century. Here have worked and did business some of the best scholars, cultural makers from the region, participants in the revolutionary struggles of the Bulgarians. This is the oldest quarter of the city.
In most of the old houses in the quarter there are galleries, workshops, schools that belong to the center of the arts and the United children’s complex and more.
